Subject: Australian Medicare Local Alliance resource for comment

Dear CoNNO,

RE: Clarifying the roles, responsibilities and accountabilities of Nursing Professionals and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practitioners in primary care, including general practice

As part of the Nursing in General Practice (NiGP) Program in 2012, AML Alliance undertook some projects which identified that there is some confusion around the roles and responsibilities of the different areas of nursing that are relevant to primary care and general practice. In particular it was proposed that GPs and practice managers require clearer direction of the regulatory requirements supporting enrolled nurses, registered nurses and nurse practitioners. As a result of this identified need, AML Alliance has been funded by the Department of Health and Ageing to develop a resource suitable for this purpose. The attached document is the first draft of the documents and is accompanied by a feedback form.

The AML Alliance NiGP team is keen to receive feedback from several nursing groups and we would appreciate feedback from CoNNO. If you are able to supply any feedback on this document by the 8 July 2013 to lwalker@amlalliance.com.au we would greatly appreciate it. Thank you for your assistance.

Regards
