I am researching for an a assignment for my current Masters in Healthcare Leadership.  I was wondering if the ANTS Professional Practice Standards had ever been used in a case against a nurse teacher at AHPRA or in a court of law and if there is any legislative requirement to abide by them? I look forward to any comments especially from ANTS executive.

Hi, a good question Vicki. I am not aware of any cases that have use the Educators' Standards. There is no legislative requirement to use them as the standards do not form part of a specialist registration under AHPRA. Other nursing speciality organisations have similar practice standards to guide and promote best practice, such as neuroscience nurses. I would also be interested if anyone knows of such a case.
