ANTS Web Site Update
Hi ANTS Members,
The purpose of this post is to update you on some changes to the ANTS web site.
For many years ANTS has paid for computer server space provided by the State Library of Victoria as part of their community support program. Just before Xmas, and without prior advice, we were told the Library had decided to immediately stop providing computer services to many community based organizations. The timing and lack of notice was most disappointing. During the Xmas period it was difficult to implement alternate arrangements and work continued through Jan. The ANTS Office worked hard to establish a new server arrangement with an unfortunate slow down in the processing of routine business. We apologise for the delays in processing some new membership applications and membership payments.
The 31 Jan 2014 was the first day using the services of Uber Global, an Australian based hosting company operating out of Canberra ( http://www.uberglobal.com.au ). Whilst it appears everything is now working I am still testing some aspects so your tolerance and understanding will be appreciated. Please let me know of any problems you might experience. The change in hosting providers had the benefit of allowing us to upgrade our web site to the latest Moodle 2.6.1 version ( https://moodle.org ). Moodle is a Learning Management System of global significance and as an ANTS member you can be given a personal and private course space to explore the educational aspects of Moodle with the option of making your space visible and usable by others. If you would like to know more send me an email or make a post in one of the forums. Despite the upgrade to Moodle, the website will largely look the same although I am happy to hear from any keen members with graphic skills!!
Don't forget our premier event the Australian National Nurse Education Conference (NNEC 2014) occurring 30 Apr – 2 May 2014 at the Adelaide Convention Centre ( http://www.sapmea.asn.au/conventions/nnec2014/index.html ). I will be available at the Conference to answer any questions you might have about the administration side of ANTS. If you are a committee member or someone keen to learn I will be able to run some training on our financial, membership and web site systems.
Again I apologize for any delays and disruptions during the change over period and I hope to see you in Adelaide during the Conference.
