The Australian Nurse Educator / Clinical Nurse Educator Survey is a component of a research project investigating the role and scope of practice of nurse educators and clinical nurse educators across Australia.

Historically, nurse educators and clinical nurse educators have played a pivotal role in preparing nurses for their professional role, through the support of graduates transition to professional practice and continuous professional development programs. However, the educator position is largely invisible in the contemporary discourse and the potential also exists for the nurse educator role to become invisible within the clinical arena. The Australian Nurse Educator Survey, is a key component of a research study investigating the role, scope of practice and performance standards of nurse educators within acute care hospitals in Australia. The study will identify the impact of the nursing role nurse educator role on patient outcomes and the inherent relationship between education and practice performance. Importantly the study will guide the collaborative development of a model for nurse educator practice to support nurses to provide safe, quality patient care.

As a nurse educator or clinical nurse educator, your participation in this survey marks an important contribution to the future of nurse education practice.
